Grandview Christian Assembly: Parade FloatWelcome to Grandview  Christian Assembly, a non-denominational, community-style church.

We are currently made up of residents from Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, Columbus, and graduate/professional students from area campuses. Having only been in existence for less than two years, we are still a small congregation of about 50 people.

Our History
In a spirit of fellowship and cooperation, this new church emerged from Oasis Christian Community, a campus ministry on the Ohio State University.  In February of 2008, John Myer sat down with the Friess family and a handful of Ohio State graduates. The fellowship that followed led to the plan to start a new church. After much consideration, prayer and outreach, Upper Arlington Christian Assembly was born.  It conducted its first public meeting in a rented facility—Arlington Banquets—on October 2008.  On January 11, 2009, regular weekly gatherings began at a facility on Haviland Road.  In the summer of 2010, after hearing that the facility might be sold, and determining that the Lord had called the church to Grandview Heights, then Upper Arlington Christian Assembly became Grandview Christian Assembly and relocated to 751 Northwest Blvd.

What we're About
Jesus said that the greatest commandment of all is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind and all your strengh" (Mark 12:30). It shouldn't come as a surprise, then, when so many churches are saying that their mission is just that. We are no different. We believe that the most potentially transforming reality a person can experience is within a developing relationship with God. When the heart possesses a strong affection for God, weaknesses tend to be made strong and stubborn areas tend to soften. This works wonders in personal spiritual growth, marriage, the workplace, and any other area of human practicality. We believe that a person enters this blessed life through faith in Jesus Christ. That is why the second half of our mission is to bring the gospel of Christ to people, nourish their resulting faith, disiciple them in the faith, and then equip them in the faith for service in the kingdom of God (Mark 16:15; Lk. 24:47; John 21:16-17; Matt. 28:19-20; Eph. 4:11-12).

Our Vision

Grandview Christian Assembly will seek to positively impact today's generation as it  is settling into life.  This is challenging.  Large numbers of people have given up on church, citing the following reasons:

A lack of authenticity (too much pageantry in the services).

Not enough relevance (failure to point out a connection between biblical truth and daily life).

Weak experience of community (minimal opportunity to know others and to be known by them).

A lack of substance (overly simplistic and often unscriptural teachings).

Few opportunities for spiritual equipping (unless enrolling in seminary).

Ultimately Grandview Christian Assembly will attempt (however imperfectly) to address these deficiencies and offer something better, simpler, and more rewarding.
